How To Survive Life With A Newborn

Looking back at David’s first few weeks of life, it felt like such a blur! I do feel like things went much more smoothly this time around. I can attribute this to:

  1.  Being more relaxed in general.
  2. Feeling more prepared and knowing what to expect.
  3. Accepting help. Of course when Anna was born, Jon and I tried to do everything ourselves…

That being said, I have three tips to share with the new moms out there:

  1. Make your bed. Even if the rest of the house is in a state of chaos, completing this small task each day will make you feel accomplished and like your home is under control.
  2. Put some makeup on. No, you aren’t leaving the house. Yes, you may be living in your spit-up-upon sweat pants, but do yourself a favor and put some under-eye concealer on and some lip gloss. It will do wonders for your self image.
  3. Accept help. When your mother-in-law offers to do your laundry, don’t be embarrassed by your underwear. Just smile with appreciation and point her to where you keep the detergent.
  4. Consider hiring some help to do the things you just can’t get to. When David was born, we really struggled with getting the grocery shopping done. I didn’t want to bring David out to the stores with all the germs, and let’s face it – a two-year-old really isn’t a great shopping buddy either. I was SO grateful to Lauren from Leave it to Lauren for taking care of this for me. I simply gave Lauren my grocery list and she returned promptly with my entire wish list. I didn’t even have to leave the house. By allowing Lauren to do my grocery shopping for me, I was able to focus on taking care of my newborn and giving my toddler some much needed attention.

Lauren doesn’t just do grocery shopping – her company offers home organization, errand services, child care, pet sitting and more. Check out Lauren’s website for a complete list of services. Lauren is like a good friend who swoops in and does you a huge favor to make your life easier. For a limited time, Lauren is offering blog readers a 20% discount off services.
